Borovec, Bulgaria
|
|
Borovec has got the lot and is probably the number one ski resort in Bulgaria. It
was Bulgaria’s first ski resort, dating from the 19th century when it was
only known to an exclusive few - but now everyone has the opportunity to
experience this fun-packed, snow filled spectacular destination! Set amidst
the majestic forest-clad
Rila Mountains, once a hunting ground for Bulgarian
Kings, Borovets is now internationally renowned. There are lots of bars and
cafes, and these along with the many clubs make aprés-ski a real attraction.
Quite rightly, skiing is its prime concern and Borovets is justly popular
with all grades of skiers, with a setting that’s near perfect. If you
haven’t discovered this premier ski resort yet, you’re in for a treat! One
of the most popular Bulgarian ski destinations has turned into an even
better place to spend a winter holiday. |

Over 2 km of slopes in the heart of the resort has been transformed by
six new snow cannons, flood lights and music, so the skiing can go on
even after the sun goes down. All this is open between 5.00 - 10.00 pm,
so if you want a lie in, after the pub crawl the night before, you can
still get a decent fun of skiing.*
If you don't want to participate in the evening entertainment on the
slopes, there are special evening events, ski shows and carnivals
organised for your enjoyment.
Another new 12 kilometres ski run “Mousalenska pateka” has been added to
the existing 40 kilometres of total ski runs, connecting the
“Markoudjik” and the “Borovets” ski areas. “Mousalenska pateka” is
appropriate for the beginner and intermediate level skiers and
snowboarders. More snow cannons have been added for season 2004/05 and
visitors to the resort should expect further upgrades and improvements
to the lift network for the next season, as the management
of the resort promises. |
