
Uzana Resort is located right at the feet of the Ispolin Summit
in the heart of the
Balkan Mountain Range, 1240 meters above the sea
level, and just 22 kilometres away from
Gabrovo. The small and
modest mark that shows the real centre of the country is a real
attraction for the tourists in this small paradise site. The
visitors of the area can stay at the other 8 hotels
scattered in the region and providing excellent accommodation and
services. The site provides great opportunities for winter, mountain
and ecological tourism. The near by situated hut “Uzana” is part of
an international walking highway, that reaches the shores of the
Black sea. The sites provides wonderful conditions for relaxing
holiday throughout the year. The from December to early April
one can practice winter sports, while the summer is ideal for
mountain hiking, cycling and horseback riding. The interest of the
tourists is huge and the complex is getting more and more
popular. The ski season starts in the middle of December and ends in
the beginning of April. The total length of the slopes in the site
is 3 kilometres. The Usana site offers a professional ski slope
that is 1300 meters long and is equipped with Pomagalski drag.
The beginners can use the other 7- 8 smaller slopes. Until recently
the resort was only popular among the Bulgarians but more and
more foreign tourist are visiting the area combine their
vacation in the heart of the
Balkan Mountain Range with the typical
for the region folklore tourism. That is why local tourist
enterprisers offer special courses for foreigners to learn more
about the Bulgarian folklore,customs and culture.
Uzana is surrounded by the natural park “Bulgarka”, which is famous
for the diverse flora and fauna.
There are plenty of attractions in Uzana, during the winter
visitors can hire motor sleights or kites and have fun in the
fluffy snow; ski equipment is available for purchase and hire as
well. There is also a horse school offering riding lessons and
horse ridding through the mountain!
There are plans to build another bigger and better slope
ski slope trough the natural park “Balgarka”. The surrounding
sites of Uzana are suitable for speleologist and rock climbing.
Just a few kilometres away is the open-air ethnographic museum
“Etara” where one can learn more about the Bulgarian crafts or
enjoy the traditional Bulgarian cuisine in the numerous local
restaurants. The
“Sokolski” monastery is situated just several kilometres away
from the Uzana site. The renaissance towns- Bojenci and Trqvna,
which saved their architectural appearance for hundreds of years,
are also in the vicinity.
